VOICES TO POWER: Queer Youth Storytelling with CKUT Radio and Ryan Thom

Join CKUT 90.3 FM for an intimate, dynamic [and FREE] workshop series on storytelling, production, and speaking truth to power! Facilitated by performance artist Ryan Thom, VOICES TO POWER is for any queer-identified person aged 14-29 with a story to tell, an interest in performing or media, a love of community activism, or any of the above! No previous experience necessary.

VOICES TO POWER is a 3 week long, Thursday evening course (5-7PM) on conceptualizing, drafting, and producing stories. Workshop activities will include themed discussions on issues affecting queer youth today, performance and theatre exercises, writing prompts, guest speakers from the Montreal performance art community, and production technology training. At the end of the series, participants will be prepared to produce a unique piece of storytelling art, including but not limited to: poetry, spoken word, song, radio documentary, and experimental sound.

Participants will also have the opportunity to air their pieces on CKUT Radio (if they choose)!

Sign-up necessary. To sign up, RSVP to ryan.thom@mail.mcgill.ca with the name you go by, 2-3 sentences about yourself, and an(y) idea for a story you want to tell

**Participants should be ready to: commit to the three weeks of workshops, discuss sensitive topics and choose how much personal information they wish to share.
