ASTTeQ looking for volunteers

Communication Assistant needed for hard of hearing participant
ASTT(e)Q (Trans Health Action of Québec) hosts a weekly Monday night discussion group from 7-9pm. One of our participants is hard of hearing. A majority of the group content is in French, and this participant is anglophone. We are looking for a volunteer who is fluent in French and English to volunteer as a communication assistant for this participant. The volunteer is needed on a weekly basis (or whenever available) during group hours, to type (computer provided) all conversation into English, so the participant can read along, and thus participate in the group.

We are ideally looking for an assistant who is trans, as this is generally a closed group, but may consider cis (non-trans) volunteers as needed. If you are interested, please contact us at astteq@yahoo.ca or 514-847-0067 x207.

Cooks needed for weekly drop-in
ASTT(e)Q (Trans Health Action of Québec) hosts a weekly Monday night discussion group from 7-9pm. We would like to offer freshly prepared food to our participants. We have a small ($20/week) budget to pay for groceries, and a kitchen where food can be prepared. We would like to have volunteers prepare food prior to our group (i.e. from 5-7pm every Monday, aside from on our community supper night).

If you are interested, please contact us at astteq@yahoo.ca or 514-847-0067 x207.

Distribution of handbook for health care and social service workers working with trans people
We recently published a guide called Taking Charge, intended for health care and social service providers working with trans people. We need volunteers to help distribute it throughout Montreal and across the province. If you are interested, contact us at 514-847-0067 x216 or by email at jackson.astteq@gmail.com.
