About Us

Promoting 2LGBTQIAP+’s youth (14-25) well-being in Montreal

Project 10 Mission

Our History

Project 10’s story begins with a gay youth in child protective services who voiced that his needs were not being met. In 1990, two social workers at the Batshaw Youth and Family Centers start “Projet 10” as a pilot project to aid in STI and HIV prevention with LGB youth. The organization’s operations split from Batshaw in 1999, becoming incorporated and forming its first board of directors.

Over the following 28 years, Project 10 would continue to expand service provision to meet the changing needs of LGBTQ2IAP+ in Montreal. Project 10 ran its first summer camp in 2001, and in 2003 the organization changed its mandate to officially include trans and gender questioning youth.

Most recently, Project 10 launched the Our Bodies, Our Stories program. This arts and performance training and mentorship program for queer and trans youth of colour is emblematic of our priorities of promoting holistic well-being for LGBTQ2IAP+ at the intersections of multiple oppressions.
